Chicken do pyaza

Chicken do pyaza curry has a sweet flavour from the onions which we add in two steps. Chicken do pyaza is nothing but chicken which is cooked in a onion gravy. It really tastes yummy! Ullsss! This sweet, spicy and delicious recipe can be simply made at home and works well as the main course.


Ingredients

1 kg - Chicken
4 large onions ( 2 pasted & 2 cut into rings )
250 g - curds
5 green chillies ( chopped )
2 tbsp garlic paste
1 and ½ tbsp ginger paste
2 tsp - red chilli powder
turmeric powder
1 tsp - Garam Masala
1 tsp - coriander powder
½ tsp cumin powder
½ tsp black pepper powder
250 g - Tomato puree
chopped coriander leaves
2 tbsp ghee
½ tsp black cumin seeds
8-9 cloves
5 green cardamom
1 inch cinnamon stick

Preparation:

**Marinate the chicken with red chilli powder, ginger paste, garlic paste, curd, salt, turmeric powder and 1 tbsp mustard oil and keep aside for 1 hour

**Heat oil & ghee in a kadhai. Add powdered garam masala into it.

**When fragrance comes out from the oil add the pasted onions and fry for 1 minute.

**Add pasted ginger and garlic & fry it for 1 minute. Then add chopped green chillies and fry until it is browned.

**Now add tomato puree and some salt and fry for 3-4 minutes on low flame.

**Add the marinated chicken, the cumin and coriander powder, pepper powder and fry till oil starts to appear on the sides.



**Add the remaining onion chunks and chopped coriander leaves and top up with 4 cups of water. Cover it and cook until the chiken is soft and cooked through.
Garnish with the remaining chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or Chapatis or Parathas.
